Clues on the Treasure Hunt to Find My Bliss
Times I remember feeling that deep, calming, liquid bliss:
Preparing dinner for my family at Christmas
Hanging out with the Woodside crew after group therapy listening to Spaceship Martini when everyone was in good spirits
Watching the snowfall and drinking hot chocolate with my roommate
Walking on a sunny day with the person I’m in love with (this has been a constant in relationships)
Also: waking up next to the person I’m in love with (another constant)
Listening to my acting teacher speak when I wasn’t trying to get anything in particular from the class
Relaxing after helping a couple get their car unstuck from the snow
Walking back to MPH from Urban Eats after having read a large portion of “Cunt”
Sitting by the pond in Central Park on a sunny day, reading a comic book and writing in my journal
Getting lost in an impulse drawing, again with the Woodside crew
Feeling the sun on my toes
A good conversation where no one is being critical, but are instead sharing fond memories, hopes for the future, and generally encouraging each other
Prolonged eye contact with another when both are in a calm, loving state
A good massage — really, any loving, unhurried physical contact
Lazy, playful conversations where nothing is really discussed and things are just made up
Throwing pots on a wheel
Swimming in warm water on a sunny day
And now I’m running out of tangible memories, but it’s a good start.
